Mortgage Origination Manager

Reports to: Chief Sales Officer

Supervises: Mortgage Loan Originators

Status: Exempt

Objective

The Mortgage Originations Manager leads our inside and outside sales mortgage originations team, coaching, developing and holding associates accountable. Through this they ensure an excellent experience for borrowers, quality loan originations, adherence to compliance requirements/service level agreements and identify additional ways to help members.

In addition, this key leader will also drive business growth through monitoring market and industry trends to identify long-term strategy development, recruiting and building an outside sales team, developing the team to cultivate COI relationships as well as partnering with operations on new product development, partnering with marketing to promote events and new products, and identifying and implementing new processes/procedures to improve efficiency and overall member experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages mortgage origination team, which includes recruiting, training, developing, and coaching
  • Motivates and lead the team to achieve service standards and sales production goals
  • Leads department and team meetings
  • Addresses internal borrower questions, inquiries, and complaints
  • Manages, monitors, and measures department processes and procedures to maximize efficiency while supporting the credit union's financial goals and the borrower's best interest
  • Develops and implements strategies to improve service and quality of work
  • Develops relationships with industry professionals to grow and maintain a referral network
  • Coaches the mortgage origination team to grow and maintain their own relationships
  • Leverages resources to monitor the performance of the mortgage origination team, identifies patterns and trends causing issues, and work towards business solutions.
  • Recommends new and more efficient processes to improve turn times and quality of work
  • Acts as a liaison between the sales team and the operations team developing strong relationships with mortgage operations and processing associates to collectively deliver a great experience to members and achieve overall goals
  • Acts as a marketing lead for the origination team
  • Filters requests from individual Mortgage Loan Officers, submit project requests, and consult on marketing strategies
  • Holds responsibility for the mortgage origination team's product knowledge and continued education
  • Supports and participates in department and credit union projects and initiatives
  • Communicates with Senior Management on business needs and issues
  • Develops an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, policies, and operational procedures
  • Performs all duties in a manner that is fully compliant with applicable industry regulations as well as KEMBA policy and procedures
  • On a self-directed basis, continues to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs
  • Relates to others beyond giving and receiving instructions:

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage origination
  • 2+ years of experience as a Sales Manager within the financial industry
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products, services, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage and coach a team across remote and in-person settings
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
