Social Media Strategist

Title: Social Media Strategist

Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer

Supervises: None

Status: Exempt

Objective
The Social Media Strategist is a creative, strategic, and results-oriented professional responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing KEMBA’s social media presence across platforms. This individual will manage daily content planning, publishing, and engagement; track performance and analytics; and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure that KEMBA’s brand voice is consistent, relevant, and engaging. The Social Media Strategist plays a key role in elevating brand awareness, driving member engagement, supporting product campaigns, and enhancing KEMBA’s reputation in Central Ohio.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes KEMBA’s social media strategy aligned with organizational goals and marketing campaigns
  • Plans, creates, and publishes content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, etc.)
  • Maintains consistent brand voice, visual standards, and messaging across all channels.
  • Produces engaging multimedia content (graphics, short videos, reels, stories, photography)
  • Writes, edits, and proofreads captions, posts, and ads with strong attention to accuracy, clarity, and tone
  • Monitors daily activity on social channels; responds promptly and professionally to member questions, comments, and messages
  • Engages with community partners, influencers, and relevant organizations to build positive brand reputation
  • Identifies and escalates reputational risks, member concerns, or compliance issues in a timely manner
  • Strategizes, develops and launches campaigns that support deposit growth, lending, brand awareness, and member engagement
  • Collaborates with internal departments (e.g. Sales, Lending, HR) to promote initiatives such as branch openings, financial education, recruitment, and community events
  • Manages paid social campaigns, boosting, and audience targeting
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports on social media performance using platform analytics, internal data and third-party tools.
  • Provides regular insights and recommendations for content optimization and audience growth
  • Benchmarks against competitors and monitors industry trends to identify opportunities
  • Ensures all content adheres to compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Upholds KEMBA’s brand standards in all creative outputs
  • Supports marketing compliance reviews related to social media advertising
  • Supports broader marketing team initiatives, including events, sponsorships, and community partnerships, with live social media coverage
  • Provides training or guidance to associates on personal/professional use of social media as needed
  • Actively participates in marketing team meetings and cross-departmental collaborations.
  • Performs all duties in a manner that is fully compliant with applicable industry regulations as well as KEMBA policy and procedures
  • Develops an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, policies, and operational procedures
  • On a self-direct basis, continues to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs
  • Relates to others beyond giving and receiving instructions:
    • Communicates with coworkers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes
    • Performs work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading, or speaking with others
    • Responds appropriately to feedback
  • Executes other duties and participates in special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in social media management, preferably in a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their best practices
  • Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Buffer, or similar)
  • Experience with paid social advertising and campaign management
  • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, or similar)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and content management systems
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
  • Analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Team player who collaborates effectively while also thriving in an independent, self-directed role
